UX is Important if you Want to See Growth

Did you know more than 75% of consumers admit to making judgements on a company’s credibility based on the company’s website?

This means if you’re 10 year old website is poorly designed, hard to navigate, and just straight out sucks… 75% of consumers will think this about your business as well.

“Don’t judge a book by its cover”

Just a heads up… this saying does not apply to your website.

Your website is subject to an extreme level of snap judgements that immediately influence perceptions of credibility. In fact, you have about 3 seconds to convince a consumer if their online experience with you is going to be a good one.

A lot of companies today do not have a grasp on the importance of UX.

“But my marketing is on point”

You can have the best digital marketing strategy on the planet, but if you’re sending people to a poorly designed website… what’s the point? Companies like this are literally throwing money out of the window because they simply think “traffic” is the key to online sales. News flash – traffic doesn’t mean sh*t if it’s not converting.

Let me ask you:

Would you rather have 5,000 people hit your website with a 10% conversion rate…

… or 30,000 people hit your website with a 1% conversion rate?

This makes you think – what is the value of sending traffic to my site if that traffic isn’t converting? If the majority of your traffic is coming from ads that you are running, this is called ROAS (Return On Ad Spend.)

If you’re not generating the amount of revenue you want, does it make sense to say… “Hey, I need to send MORE people to my site!” This typically means more is spent on marketing dollars, and this is not the remedy to low revenue. Or, low ROAS.

In all, the problem might not be your marketing and amount of traffic your site is receiving… it’s the experience you’re giving your consumers once they hit your website.

8 Quick Tips to Improve your User Experience

  1. Design. First impressions are 94% design related. Your website’s design should look modern, and be easy to navigate. If it’s not, expect more than 38% of your visitors to never return.
  2. Images. Make sure they’re from this decade and that they’re high quality. Clip art and low res. images say “we’re cheap and these were free.”
  3. Keep it fresh. Your CTAs and especially your homepage should be updated monthly.
  4. Use Landing Pages. If you’re spending $100k to drive traffic each month, make sure those users are being directed to a landing page that ties directly to your marketing message. A/B testing comes in handy here…
  5. Speed. Does your site take more than 3 seconds to load? You should worry, because you just lost 39% of the users that landed on it.
  6. Responsiveness. Is your site mobile friendly? More than 75% of your traffic in 2020 will be mobile traffic.
  7. Use Analytics & Tracking Codes. Don’t just track traffic to your site. Track conversations, and start understanding where your traffic is coming from, why it is or isn’t converting, and how to turn users into customers.
  8. Always Keep Learning. Technology is constantly changing the way we do business online. Future trends like AI and machine learning are already being developed, learn how to implement both into your UX and Digital Strategies!

Cheers!
